The Primary Level uses National Plus Curriculum that applies the curriculum of DIKNAS for Bahasa Indonesia, Civics, and Social Studies and International curriculum Textbooks for English, Math, and Science and al-Azhar-Cairo’s curriculum for Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Tahfidz. In addition to supporting the intra curriculum objectives every student is encouraged to take part in physical exercises as well as develop his/her creative skills in extra curriculum programs.
* TAHFIDZ
Every primary school student is targeted to memorize 6 Juz of the Holy Qur’an upon completion of their primary level if he/she started his/her level at Syafana since the 1st grade. For those who join later will be set proportionately in accordance with the time of their registration.
* ARABIC
Students learn Arabic with the latest Arabic Learning Method targeting all areas of competence, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This language becomes a daily conversation, besides English, when students start sitting in the fourth grade.
* ISLAMIC STUDIES
Along with the Arabic subject Islamic studies is a vital sector of the student’s learning process. Students learn the Tauhid, the five pillars of Islam and their applications, Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and learn to read correctly the verses of the Holy Qur’an.
* ENGLISH
Students use English as their daily language at all activities and are continuously encouraged to use their four skills. The curriculum covers all areas of communicative competence, listening, speaking, reading and writing. The subject is taught regularly by a Native Speaker.
* MATHEMATICS
Students learn basic foundation of mathematics including numbers, subtraction, addition, multiplication and division. There are various techniques in teaching mathematics in the school including some integrated school activities such as entrepreneurship day. And besides the concept, it is also important to understand the spirituality component of mathematics.
* SCIENCE
The science is taught either as a stand-alone unit or part of an integrated subject. Students are encouraged to develop their skills through individual or group work in observation and experimentation with the appropriate scientific language and methods. Understanding the creatures is to understand Allah, the Almighty.
* SOCIAL STUDIES (SOSE)
This subject is taught through an integrated approach of understanding society, culture and environment. SOSE provides a framework for the development of students’ knowledge and understanding of Indonesian society and society of other countries as well as local and global environments.
* INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Student’s skills and confidence in using the computer are developed through the use of software which supports various key learning areas. Computer technology is used as a tool to enhance learning experiences across all areas of the curriculum.
* ARTS EDUCATION
Creative arts allows the students to explore their imagination through the use of design, color and texture. All students are valued as individuals and their artworks are appreciated as their own right.
* PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE)
All students are encouraged to participate in the physical education program that enhances their health, confidence, fitness and hand/eye coordination.
